Sportpret vzw’s core mission is to improve the quality of life and social development of children living in poverty through sport and play.
Concretely, this means the organisation:
* Offers free and low-threshold sports and leisure activities
* Focuses on children (±3–12 years) in socially vulnerable situations
* Actively removes barriers to participation (such as cost or registration hurdles)
* Collaborates with schools, social services, and poverty organisations to reach the right target group
In addition, Sportpret aims to:
* Make children living in poverty more visible
* Support educators and organisations working with this target group
Sportpret’s work has a broad social impact:
* Equal opportunities: children who otherwise would not have access to sport and play are given that chance
* Development: improvement of physical, motor, social, and emotional skills
* Well-being: strengthening self-confidence and psychological welfare
* Social cohesion: children learn cooperation, respect, and how to interact with others
* Healthy lifestyle: encouraging movement and healthy eating habits
* Future opportunities: supporting a positive development path and participation in society
On a broader scale, the organisation contributes to:
* Reducing social inequality
* Strengthening inclusion and participation in society
